Built between 1595 and 1600 by Robert Smythson for Thomas Tailor, the Registrar to the Bishop of Lincoln, Doddington Hall is today the much-loved family home of Claire and James Birch.

Having never been sold or cleared out since its construction a visit to Doddington offers a unique insight into family life through the ages and the challenges of looking after such an estate in the 21st century.

Visitors are able to explore not only the Hall and Gardens but also the award-winning Farm Shop and eateries, the Bike Shop, Home Store, Farrow & Ball and Country Clothing Store.

Doddington Hall is also the setting for many weddings and events, concerts and exhibitions and has six holiday cottages available for short stays.

There is always something new to see and do on the estate whether that is inside the Hall, in the six acres of gardens, an event, or on one of the estate walks.

Doddington has embarked on an ambitious 400 year wilding project to bring more nature back to the Estate. ‘Wilder Doddington’ has set out to revive ecosystems to benefit people and nature; letting nature recover, letting people connect to nature.
