Two nearby, but very contrasting houses, and both very much lived-in homes. Upton Cressett Hall is a grade I Elizabethan moated house with a beautiful turreted gatehouse and topiary gardens. The house dates from around 1540 and was timber-framed with a solar and Great Hall. Now the home of William and Lady Laura Cash, it was restored by the Cash family when they purchased it in 1969. Aldenham Park is a Grade II* Palladian house originally dating from 1691. A splendid central hall was created from a courtyard in 1830 and the fine C17th staircase is a notable interior feature.
