Castle Howard, designed by Sir John Vanbrugh in the late 17th century, is one of the most iconic stately homes in Britain.  Its 1000 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds are of world renown.  In addition to 12 acres of walled gardens, two lakes, cascades, fountains and formal gardens the estate also boasts the finest rhododendron and azalea collection in the North of England.

The Estate is looking for a Horticulturist to maximize visitor enjoyment by maintaining excellent standards of presentation and plantsmanship within the gardens of Castle Howard.  

You will be liaising with the Head of Landscape and Gardens to create work plans and will supervise staff, volunteers and students on a day to day basis.

The ideal candidate will be conscientious, practical, have specific horticultural training and be proficient in a range of horticultural work. A friendly manner with visitors and a broad understanding of current health and safety legislation are also important.
